...and the place must have received a LOT of bitching from people taking piano exams or something, 'cause they actually put up a sign.

It says stuff like "A good carpenter never blames his tools" blahblah "Every student takes the exam on the same piano..." blahblah "Some of them score distinctions and some of them don't pass at all..." blahblahblah "Thus it is not the piano which is the cause of your grade..."

and I was like "Yeah well your piano still sucks."

Still sucks. Every single exam center's exam pianos are always utter crap, and so are their studios, every single year. I'd know, I bitch about this every time I take a piano exam. My accompanists for my violin exams have complained about crappy exam pianos, too.

The sound is terribly boomy, and the nearest D below the middle C always goes BOOM and sounds unreasonably loud when you press it with a minusucle amount of force, for no reason at all. The piano is placed in the most bizarre location ever - facing a corner formed by a huge window and a wall without any sound-absorbing holes thingy, with a random pot of fake flowers stuffed into the corner.

Talk about weird.

And of course due to the terrible location, the sound bounces everywhere. The piano kinda sucks - and it's out of tune - so it BOOMS really loudly even when you try to play softly. And hitting the note F creates strange buzzy vibrations.

THE PIANO EATS DYNAMICS. AND ARTICULATION. AND TONE. IT EATS EVERYTHING YOU SPENT A HELL OF A LOT OF TIME DEVELOPING AND FINE-TUNING. And after gorging on all these extremely important things, it spews out this:
BOOM BOOM OOM.

...charming.

I bet they never wiped the piano before, because THE KEYS ARE STICKY. S-T-I-C-K-Y. IDK who ate something with a lot of sugar and then played on that piano, but it's really disgusting.

...I'm sorry, I always bitch about pianos in exam centers. XD They are just so... bitchable-about, it can't be helped.

on a sidenote, MY PIANO TEACHER'S PIANOS (ONE UPRIGHT AND ONE GRAND) ARE PERFECT. *_* I adore them so so so very much. They are totally squee-worthy, I tell you. *_______*

my piano's okay, nothing spectacular but okay. a bit of strength is required to press down the keys, though... x_x

LOL. If people can pass on those pianos, they're probably cheating. lol jk. I don't know anything about pianos, or how you'd even cheat... But yeah. I can see how that would be frustrating.

I got an image of a piano eating your fingers, instead of dynamics and articulation. XD

Couldn't they at least tune it properly? O___o Or, you know, wipe they keys? Doesn't seem like too much effort. LAZY PEOPLE.

Wow... O___O I always felt like Classical music was everywhere. In school we were taught about many pieces and the composers, I have been to five or so concerts just through the school and once or twice in opera even. And don't let me get started on all the assignments... I still remember stuff about this guy called "Smetana". XD

I guess it's a European thing, since Classical music has kinda been a big thing in our history. ^^' And we were taught not to clap between movements and such. O___o It really does depend on the place, huh?

That was all WAY interesting tho. *__* I don't mind any rambling! XD And, well, it's not like I never listen to classical music, even though I only own one CD (hey, expensive!) XD

Oo, good luck tomorrow! <3333333 At what time is the exam?
